How Do I Put This...

After much thought and deliberation, it comes with measured sorrow to tell you that I have reached the decision to take an extended leave of absence from my postings.

I have found over the past several months, that my enthusiasm has waned, and working on this blog has become more of a task than personal entertainment.  Although I thoroughly enjoy doing the blog, the schedule that I put myself on has taken it's toll, and I am now suffering from burnout.  I have also found other avenues of enjoyment that I wish to pursue, and other projects that I want to take on.

But, all is not lost.

I could never stay away forever.  This blog means way too much to me.  I plan on taking a break for just over a month, and to return on June 1st  As of that time, I will probably/possibly/maybe move to a 2-3 posts a week schedule.  Regardless, I will be back on Thursday June 1st.  I still have about 3 weeks worth of back up posts waiting, and I plan to build on that before I come back, giving myself breathing room to take it a little easier this time.  And, I still have more than 200 albums already arranged and sorted for posting, just no covers yet.  YOU KNOW there are STILL a bunch of albums by groups we all know and love that I still have yet to get to.

I will finish out this week, and my last post will be on April 23rd.  So smoke em' if you got em'.

  1. Dude! I'll be sorry to see you step away for a while, but it is quite understandable with the pace you've been keeping. I hope the sabbatical will see you refreshed and recharged! Go have some fun.

  2. Living here in China and checking your blog (through a VPN) each morning has become a welcome routine.I fully understand though how these things can become merely an action and start to lose their luster. Lets hope you come back as already stated refreshed as for me the shine is still there.A very welcome break from the tedium of 9-5 in Shanghai. (and thanks so much about the Dream Time - that is beyond super cool)

  3. I'm not surprised, given the pace that you're posting things... maybe a more sedate posting rate would make it more enjoyable for you again rather than something to find time for daily. Enjoy your sabbatical and I look forward to your return in June!

  7. I've enjoyed you blog immensely, and although I rarely post to say thank you for all your hard work and excellent posts, I'll do so now. I can only imagine how much work it is, especially on a daily basis. I could never do it myself - I'm too lazy! Enjoy your much-deserved break, my friend.

  8. Just echoing what everyone else has said - it's hardly surprising that you need a rest given the volume and quality of your output! Enjoy your break and we'll see you in the summer. Hope your wife gets her job sorted out too!

  9. I'm really going to miss you, but I understand that sometimes you have to take a break from doing something you love, or it gets to the point where it's like a chore and not fun any longer. You deserve a break, you've kept up a breakneck pace with this blog!

I hope that both you and your wife get to have a nice rest, and that you can come back to the blog both energized and refreshed. It sounds like you need to take some time off and just enjoy yourself. Goodness knows you've earned a vacation!
