Re-Flex - Politics Of Dancing - 1983

The Re-Flex's The Politics Of Dancing is the next entry, continuing in my series of lesser popular/successful 80s Synthpop bands.  I only remember this band for the album's title track, and then their later 80s hit Funky Town.  Too bad, because this entire album is great!  Had I known more about them when I was soaking myself in Duran albums back then, who knows where my loyalty might lie, now....

Anyway, I plotted my remaining albums that I've finished, as well as getting in all of the material that I want to post before I quit.  If I could stay on schedule, I'd be posting until next JUNE.  Fuck that, sorry.  So, it's a toss up between just disappearing altogether, or just posting here and there, when I have time and desire to do so.  We will see.  Again, just enjoy what gets posted until I pull the plug.

  1. FYI, the Funkytown cover was Pseudo Echo, not these guys.

This truly is one of the all time greats though. Literally every track on this is/could have been a potential single.

Shit, I know this! I always blend these two bands together, for some reason. In fact, when I was making the covers for the PE comp that I have coming up, I accidentally put the track listing for this album instead of PE's songs. Had to redo the album cover almost completely.

  3. thanks, having done it myself recently i can thoroughly recommend disappearing completely and suddenly. it prevents all the whining from the freeloaders about how they want you to carry on which translates as they are entitled to you doing all the hard work while they never do anything.

    2. Stop showing up in these blogs and forums and crying about freeloaders. People can share as they wish. If you don't like it go start your own blog and run it as you please.

  4. Ooh thanks for this, got the 12" of Politics when it came out, but they seemed to sink without trace after the next single. Never got the album at the time, but I had discovered Soft Cell The Cure & Siouxsie and my music was about to take a darker route from then! By the way, track 10 on 'Remixing' is coming up as corrupt when I try to unzip it.

  5. LOVED this album when it came out. Every song it sounded like a single to me -- and I'll admit to having a HUGE crush on keyboardist Paul Fishman at the time! (Hey, don't judge -- I was a teenage girl in the 80s, and he was a cute guy with a cool haircut who was in a band!) I agree with the person who said that every track could have been a single. There's not one bad song on this album. It's just a shame that it took 25 years for their second album to actually be released.

  6. After reading this I dug out my old vinyl copy and listened...great album. Also want to say that I have really enjoyed your blog, and I'm sorry to see it coming to an end, but I completely understand why.
