I agree there was a lot of great final albums in that era. The 90's were really good through '98 and then things began to sour around the time the Spice Girls got popular boy bands got really popular etc. Then to 2003 where I feel that the musical landscape really sputtered out. There have been good records occasionally since, but with the internet etc, It just seemed a lot of the spirit and drive that made things great really left with the end of physical media. The specialness just seemed to go away the music magazines dried up, Idol competitions became the rage and there has been a lot more looking back than looking forward in the musical landscape. How true it was when Ian McCulloch sang, nothing lasts forever.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
